Students learn to use statistical techniques to make better business decisions in a world of uncertainty.

What qualities make someone particularly successful in the business world?

The five skills for success in the business world are critical thinking, advanced Microsoft Excel methods, statistical software proficiency, presentation and communication.


What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in business face today?

Taking large volumes of data and processing it into actionable business information.

The biggest challenge is taking large volumes of data and processing it into actionable business information.


Have you ever served in the military? If so, please share your military experience.

I served 21 years in the United States Marine Corps. I enlisted in 1988, commissioned in 1994 and retired 2009. I served as as a finance officer, a recruiting operations officer and a comptroller. My last tour was at Headquarters Marine Corps where I served as an operations research analyst.


Why did you start teaching?

I was in graduate school when I taught my first course at Baylor University. I found that I really enjoyed teaching at Baylor and was fortunate enough to be hired as a full-time faculty member.


What is the one book you think everyone should read?

“How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie


Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.

I drive a 2013 Lancer Evolution X with a COBB Tuning Stage 3 kit installed. I also collect baseball cards and comic books.
